January 13th Homework

Steadman Summary:
In his article, "Annoying Ways People Use Sources", Kyle Steadman argues about his pet peeves with errors in writings. He explains the correct way to use quotations in text after showing the wrong way of using them. He also shows the correct ways to citing sources such as punctuating, and citing them correctly at the end of your writing.

Response:
I don't think that Steadman's article compares to the previous articles that we have read because Steadman gives examples as how to not do certain things when writing, but he does provide the way to fix the examples. In the past, I have been taught to only cite my sources using either MLA or APA format. I wasn't required to adding any quotations to my writing. My views as to using sources has changed a little bit because I never used the quotations in my writing, but now I know how to use them correctly.

  1. Joey, so are you saying you didn't like this article as much because it gave tons of examples? I find it very interesting that you've never had to use quotes in your writing and I am curious to read more of your writing.

  2. Joey, I agree with how the previous articles don't really compare to this one, because this one was more about the actual format of citation whereas the others were about how to help create your story. Throughout my previous schools, I have also been taught mostly MLA, and a little bit of APA to prepare me for college, so I can relate to that as well. Nice job!

  3. I like the way you summarized the article, but I think that you should use a few specific examples from the article. For the response question I thought that Stedman's article did relate to the other authors, but I can now see how some people wouldn't think so.

  4. My past experiences were very similar to yours using MLA or APA format but was never taught how to use them other than that. I think his article really put everything together in the context of the actual writing process of the paper.
